Adore recruitment are looking for a Commis Chef to join a team of 12 in a 5* hotel and spa in Maldon.
As a Commis chef you will report directly to the chef you are working with and will be responsible for all aspects of your section of the section of the kitchen that you are working on.
Our client is well known as one of the best Hotel & Spa venues in Essex and have been for the past few years. They are located in the beautiful countryside of Essex with 365 acres of stunning grounds with its own golf course, spa and leisure facilities.

Qualifications & requirements
Food and Beverage is what adds flavour to a stay! Guests love to enjoy delicious, freshly prepared and beautifully presented food. To deliver a great guest experience – a Cook/Commis Chef, as a member of the kitchen team, will assist in preparing food in a timely manner, helping guests to have memorable experiences whenever and wherever they dine.
Prepare and cook orders in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in recipes.
Control food usage to minimise waste.
Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assists in receiving items and taking inventory as required.
Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed any local laws regarding health and safety
Maintain a clean, neat and well-organised work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins and counters
Follow all established safety protocols and procedures at all times. Immediately report any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment or any safety incident to the supervisor or manager on duty
Commis Chef Job Description.
May assist by performing dish washing or other kitchen duties as needed
Work as part of a team and communicate with other departments as per hotel procedures to ensure excellent quality and service
May occasionally interact directly with guests
May assist with other duties as assigned
- Be reliable, punctual and self-motivate
- Have a great attitude and strong work ethic
- Experience with fresh Italian food is essential
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- All food safety and health and hygiene up to date with certificates.
A Chef with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar property.
Experience in A la carte cooking
Some experience in banquet preparation
Knowledge of current food trends
Must be able to fit well into the team
A steady career path to date showing good progression driven by proven success
