Job Title: Import Operations Executive
Location: Tilbury (1 WFH day per week after probation)
Salary – £30,000 – £35,000 (DOE)
Job Summary:
Our client started as a family-owned business and have been going for 45 years and growing fast. A medium sized business with over 40 employees.
A large percentage of their employees have been with the business for over 10 years due to the progressive and supportive nature of the business.
They are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import Operations Executive to manage and coordinate import shipments.
The main part of the business is Far East deep-sea operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in international shipping, logistics, and sea freight.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage end-to-end import operations, including booking shipments, tracking cargo, and ensuring timely delivery.
• Using Multfreight forwarding software.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transport providers to optimize shipment schedules.
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import documentation requirements.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to provide updates on shipment status and resolve operational issues.
• Prepare and verify shipping documents such as Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, and Certificates of Origin.
• Monitor and manage import costs, including freight, duties, and port charges, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
• Address and resolve delays, discrepancies, or issues with customs clearance and shipping.
• Maintain accurate records of import transactions and generate reports for management review.
• Keep up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in global trade and shipping.
Key Requirements:
• Proven experience in import operations within the shipping, freight forwarding, or logistics industry.
• Experience of sea freight is a must. Road and air freight would also be beneficial.
• Experience in CNS and Destin8.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise with suppliers, customers, and regulatory authorities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
• Experience handling shipments from the Far East region is an advantage.
