We’re looking for a talented Customs Documentation Clerk to work for our client.

They want to recruit someone with demonstrable experience of completing day to day customs clearing and entries for all air, sea and road freight shipments. Create, manage and maintain the correct documentation as each case progress.

The Role:
Reporting to the CCT Communications Manager and based in the company’s Dover office, as the Customs Documentation Clerk you will be responsible for completing customs declarations, to ensure that all clearance processes (import and export) are completed in a compliant & timely manner and provide professional and effective administration support to the customs clearing / multimodal team.

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this Customs Documentation Clerk role will have relevant experience of completing day to day customs clearing and entries for all air, sea and road freight shipments. Create, manage and maintain the correct documentation as each case progress.

You’ll also need experience of:

Maintaining Data Input accuracy. Deal with customer enquiries in writing, in person or by phone providing accurate advice and estimates when required
Obtaining necessary bill of ladings and correct tariff headings. Obtain payments from customers in line with company policy
Telephone and/or written communication with external organisations e.G. HMRC, port authorities, shipping lines, hauliers etc
Dealing with general enquiries from importers / exporters, internal & external sources concerning all areas, relating to customs procedures, tariff classifications, duty rates and any other documentation requirement
Processing import/export declarations

In addition, it’s essential that you possess the following:

HMRC – customs declarations experience, imports and exports
Knowledge of customs declarations will be advantageous. Ideally gained the experience within freight forwarding or logistics business
Experience of checking and processing all relevant documentation for the shipments
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
The understanding of different customs procedures and the requirements

You’ll also need to be able to work autonomously whilst being a productive member of a team.
